Cemetery Department

Cemetery Office Closed Temporarily

Due to the Covid-19 Virus the offices of the Halifax Highway and Cemetery Departmens will be closed to the public for the immediate future. The staff will be in the office, during its normal hours Monday thru Friday 7:00am - 3:00pm for the duration and you can call the office at 781-293-1760 to set up an appointment for cemetery or highway business. We can also be reached by email. For the Highway Surveyor email steve.Hayward@halifax-ma.org or for the Administrative Assistant, Karyn Thompson, email karyn.thompson@halifax-ma.org and we will reply promptly.

The Highway Department is still operating with limits, but there are certain jobs that have temporarily put on hold except in case of an emergency.

The Cemetery Department is in normal operation except for interments. There is a limit of 10 people at the grave side service. This is being done to follow the guidance of "social distancing", reducing the number of in-person interactions and decreasing the chances of spreading and transmitting the COVID-19 virus. We apologize for any inconvenience, but we must make decision based on the health and safety of our employees and our residents.

The Highway Surveyor/Cemetery Superintendent will continue to perform his duties via telephone (781-293-1760) and/or email at steve.hayward@halifax-ma.org
